Welcome to our Parish Appeal.
I would be pleased if you would take a little while to read about this appeal, and to hold its request in your prayers.
As a parish we strive to flourish and grow in the name of Jesus Christ, who leads our ministry spiritually and in service to the local people. We have received the support of so many, both in their financial gifts and the time and talents they bring. I am so grateful for all which is given for our worship to God and service to the parish. Thank you! |
Since my arrival in the parish in 2019, it has been our vision to offer a generous ministry for all ages and stages of life. You will often hear me speak of our relationships across the town and the good reputation we hold as being so fruitful and charitable. I’m reminded of St Paul words to the Corinthians about God’s generosity towards us and His church:
‘And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.’
We seek to be best churches we can for all the people of Haslemere.
As a parish we are responsible for our own finances. We receive no funding from the Church of England – indeed in 2026 we will contribute £105,000 to the Diocese (known as our Parish Share) which pays for our Rector, housing and pension, and a number of central services from the Guildford Diocese, such as training for our volunteer clergy. All of this helps us maintain our ministry in every part of the parish. It is only by the grace of God and the generosity of parishioners that we can offer this ministry in Christ's name.
We have seen growth in many areas of our ministry, leading to a flourishing of new worshippers and leaders. At the same time, we see the changes as people move away for retirement or family changes. Sadly, we occasionally have to say goodbye to some dearly beloved faithful at the end of the lives. So, from time to time it is prudent for us to invite our congregations, both long standing and those newer to Haslemere, to consider their financial support for St Bartholomew’s and St Christopher’s.
