Holy Week and Easter 2020

Easter is going to be a bit different this year!

Sadly, the Wednesday Passover Meal has had to be been cancelled but for Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday we shall be gathering in our homes in one way or another.  God will be with us, and we with him, even if we can't worship in the churches.

Do please make use of the streaming services wherever you can.

All being well, and technology allowing, we shall try to introduce some hymns into the services.  Happily Clive and Leanne Osgood have recorded some lovely music for us for each of the holy days from Palm Sunday to Easter Day.

Palm Sunday - 5th April

On Palm Sunday we would normally like to begin outside the church as a witness, with our palm crosses to wave.  For this year I would like you all to find a symbol of the cross in our homes - a pendant, book, ornament or picture - and then join with the live streaming service at 10:00am, where our virtual palm crosses will be blessed.

You can listen to the service again here.

Maundy Thursday - 9th April

On Maundy Thursday our thoughts are towards the moment when Jesus shared the Last Supper with his disciples, and the time of The Watch as it was in the Garden of Gethsemane.

At 10:00am there will be a live streaming service of Holy Communion, and at 8pm a simple live streamed service of Night Prayer (compline).

Although we cannot be there to witness, the churches will stripped of their vestments as would normally happen.

Good Friday - 10th April

There will be an opportunity for us to gather around the (virtual) cross on Good Friday to be with Christ at the point he gave his life up for us all.

At 2:45pm there will be a live streaming service.  To symbolise the life of Christ you may wish to have a lit candle at the beginning of service.  For those of us who feel safe to do so, please try to find one in your home, but if you are worried about naked flames in you home then a torch will do!

Easter Day - 12th April

And so to the resurrection of our Lord, who gives us hope in all the challanges of life.  We shall be lighting the paschal candles for both churches.

On Glorious Easter Sunday there will be a live streaming service at 10:00am.
